I'm still recovering from the weekend. My plans sounded simple enough: go to a bead retreat and have fun. A lot of fun was had, but no sleep! On Sunday I was feeling delirious, but I wanted to keep going. I was on a creative high.
I have to admit, I was scared especially driving there at night. It was at Kingswood Camp in Mound; it's a fabulous place to have a bead retreat: lots of room and everything was under one roof so we really didn't have to change out of our pjs and many of us didn't. I was also apprehensive because we (me and my beading friend Mel) didn't really know a lot of people. We joined the bead society in December and the group meets only once a month.
I'm glad we sucked it up and just did it. It was so worth it to get away (we didn't watch tv or check email) and focus. And I was hanging with my people who understand my need for size 4 bicone Swarovski AB crystals and k u m ihimo (had to spell it that way so it wasn't ****ed out) braiding. The best part was learning from experts. Many of them are beading teachers and cover girls (their work is in bead magazines). I learned new techniques and stitches. Check out some of the things I made:
I'm still working on the bracelet at the top.
Now I've got to get home and catch some zzzzzzzzzzzzzzs
