    Dancing With The Stars premiere

Monday, March 9, 2009, 09:51 PM CST [General]

Just finished watching Dancing With The Stars premiere (tweeting too) -- I had to see how the replacement dancers would do with such short notice and if jackarse Steve-O and Apple founder Steve Wosniak could dance.  The answer to both is a big NO, but they were fun to watch and were having a good time.

My top three picks are gymnastics star Shawn Johnson, Sex and the City naked hottie neighbor Gilles Marini and Melissa Rycroft from The Bachelor.  With only two days of practice, she pulled it off and looked great.  Eat your heart out crappy Bachelor Jason; ahhh, the best revenge!

The other last minute fill-in (for Jewel) was Girls Next Door star Holly Madison; she had five days to practice with her partner and was okay.  I don't think she's an airhead, but she danced like one.  I'm keeping my eye on Chuck and Julianne who are real life partners!  I hope he can handle taking dance lessons from his girlfriend.  Guess we'll see what happens...

I love this picture; isn't it cute?  No one got a 10 tonight.  Gilles got the highest score: 24.

    Don't worry, bead happy

Monday, March 9, 2009, 04:07 PM CST [General]

I'm still recovering from the weekend.  My plans sounded simple enough: go to a bead retreat and have fun.  A lot of fun was had, but no sleep!  On Sunday I was feeling delirious, but I wanted to keep going.  I was on a creative high.

I have to admit, I was scared especially driving there at night.  It was at Kingswood Camp in Mound; it's a fabulous place to have a bead retreat: lots of room and everything was under one roof so we really didn't have to change out of our pjs and many of us didn't.  I was also apprehensive because we (me and my beading friend Mel) didn't really know a lot of people.  We joined the bead society in December and the group meets only once a month.

I'm glad we sucked it up and just did it.  It was so worth it to get away (we didn't watch tv or check email) and focus.  And I was hanging with my people who understand my need for size 4 bicone Swarovski AB crystals and k u m ihimo (had to spell it that way so it wasn't ****ed out) braiding.  The best part was learning from experts.  Many of them are beading teachers and cover girls (their work is in bead magazines).  I learned new techniques and stitches.  Check out some of the things I made:

I'm still working on the bracelet at the top.

Now I've got to get home and catch some zzzzzzzzzzzzzzs

Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionaire ****cat Dolls style

Tuesday, March 3, 2009, 04:55 PM CST [General]

Hey, check out the PCD (****cat Dolls) "Jai Ho" remix.  "Jai Ho" is the Oscar winning song from Slumdog Millionaire.

I like their version -- it stays fairly true to the original by A.R. Rahman.  The lyrics are sung in English and they add a sexy raunchy twist that only the PCDs can pull off.  A.R. Rahman is featured in their music video not out yet.  Here's the song with clips from the movie:

    Work those sleeveless dresses Michelle!

Monday, March 2, 2009, 04:41 PM CST [General]

The official White House portrait of First Lady Michelle Obama has been released.  And she's sleeveless!  Scandalous? NOT!

Last week Jason and I posted this poll: Do you think it's a big deal Michelle Obama shows her arms so often?

207 people voted.  Here's the results:

    Yes - 7 votes 3% No - 94 votes 45% Who cares? - 106 votes 51%

Thank you!  Not a big deal and/or who cares?!

She looks great.  It's appropriate and tasteful.

This is nothing new.  Styling First Lady Jackie Kennedy went sleeveless often.

    I want those dresses....and Michelle's.

According to Huffington Post's Bonnie Fuller, the Michael Kors sleeveless black crepe gown is just $3,195.  But he says he's considering whether or not he will offer a less expensive version in his MICHAEL by Michael Kors collection...wonder what he means by less expensive??

Anyway, I say, you got the bod -- work it girl :)

    Happy 105th Dr. Seuss!

Monday, March 2, 2009, 04:12 PM CST [General]

Today we honor Theodore Geisel aka Dr. Seuss! He would have been 105 today.  Some of my favorite childhood memories are reading Dr. Seuss books with my parents -- especially Green Eggs and Ham...

Got a favorite Dr. Seuss story??
