What:  Project Runway Premier Party

When:  Thursday, August 20, 7:30 p.m.

Why:  Project Runway has finally returned l'etoile magazine is hosting a red-carpet event and screening to support the two Minnesotan designers who made the cut. Designers Ra'mon-Lawrence Coleman and Christopher Straub will be making a brief appearance before the screening and will make the rounds during the post-party ****tail event at the St. Paul Hotel (350 Market St., 651.292.9292).

What:  Stoplight Soiree and Fall Fashion Preview

Where:  Crowne Plaza, 618 2^nd Ave S., Minneapolis

When:  Saturday, August 22, 8 p.m.

Why:  Where philanthropy meets fashion for a 1950s themed event complete with the big bang sounds of Brass Menagerie and swing dancing. A portion of ticket sales go to benefit the Jeremiah Program which helps single moms in the Twin Cities build better lives. Prizes will be awarded to the best-dressed 1950s male and female after the runway show.

Who:  City-Curious Cyclists

What:  NightOwl Classic Bike Ride

Where:  St. Anthony Main Riverfront

When:  Saturday, August 22, 5:30 p.m.

Why: Whether you're a serious biker or just looking to spend some quality time with the fam, this event will take you on a tour of well-known landmarks along the Mississippi. The 8.5 mile "Family Flight" for less experienced riders starts at 7 p.m. and 16.5 mile "Hoot Loop" for the more experienced riders at 8 p.m. The pre-peddling party includes music, food, goodie bags, bike safety and decorating contest. A portion of the proceeds benefits Bolder Options and Minneapolis Parks.

What:  Guac Off

Where:  Blue, 2922 Aldrich Ave S., Minneapolis

When:  Thursday, August 20, 6 p.m.

Why: Summer siesta with a serious guacamole competition where you get to sample the end product. Teams will compete for Most Authentic, Most Unique, Best Team Name and Audience Choice using the usual guac ingredients and three secret ingredients brought from home. If guacamole isn't your thing, don't worry because there will be plenty salsa and cerveza and tunes from DJ David Drone.
