Why: Where philanthropy meets fashion for a 1950s themed event complete with the big bang sounds of Brass Menagerie and swing dancing. A portion of ticket sales go to benefit the Jeremiah Program which helps single moms in the Twin Cities build better lives. What: NightOwl Classic Bike Ride
Where: St. Anthony Main Riverfront

Why: Whether you're a serious biker or just looking to spend some quality time with the fam, this event will take you on a tour of well-known landmarks along the Mississippi. The 8.5 mile "Family Flight" for less experienced riders starts at 7 p.m. and 16.5 mile "Hoot Loop" for the more experienced riders at 8 p.m. The pre-peddling party includes music, food, goodie bags, bike safety and decorating contest. A portion of the proceeds benefits Bolder Options and Minneapolis Parks.

Why: Summer siesta with a serious guacamole competition where you get to sample the end product. Teams will compete for Most Authentic, Most Unique, Best Team Name and Audience Choice using the usual guac ingredients and three secret ingredients brought from home. If guacamole isn't your thing, don't worry because there will be plenty salsa and cerveza and tunes from DJ David Drone.
