The Scoop: Page Six is reporting that Jennifer Lopez acted like a complete diva during a recent shopping visit to a Catherine Malandrino store in New York. Sources say that she demanded the store be shut down for her so she could shop solo and threw a fit when they told her they wouldn't. She reportedly demanded a 50 percent discount and left the fitting room in shambles.
Colleen says: If this is true, is it any surprise? Celebrities are groomed to have the Burger King life - your way, right away. I'm curious if we all have the potential to become like this. It seems like everyone who becomes famous has an idea of what "normal" is because they are seemingly able to pull off that image to the media, and then we hear these stories of the diva-like behavior. What is it about fame that brings about this sense of entitlement? Do we create these monsters? Can you think of any celebrity who has escaped these reports of diva-ism?
The Scoop: George Carlin is dead at age 71. The comedian, who has had a history of heart trouble, went to the St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica, CA complaining of chest pain on Sunday and died there later that same day.
Colleen says: What a wonderful talent, and what a sad loss. I have a very close relationship with George Carlin right now because he narrated a handful of the Thomas and Friends programs. We are very into them right now at our house, and so his voice regularly is heard coming from behind that blue engine. This afternoon, after Ollie wakes from his nap, and begs, "Thomas, Thomas," I will select one of George Carlin's narrations, and say a little prayer. Rest in Peace, George Carlin.
The Scoop: Jamie Lee Curtis tells More Magazine in an interview about the most private battle of her life, the battle for sobriety. The 50 year-old star, who has lived a very public life says not even her husband, comedy actor Christopher Guest knew of her struggles. Her journey to sobriety began 10 years ago at a New Years Eve party where the party goers wrote their wishes for the coming year, sobriety was at the top of Jamie Lee Curtis' list. She tells More Magazine that she has that list framed in her office.
Colleen says: I really like Jamie Lee Curtis. I don't think she's promoting anything right now (career-wise) and she still shares her personal stories that can help other people. Usually actors only do that when they have a new movie out - it helps with the buzz. She seems to genuinely care.
