I think they spelled it wrong...

Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale welcomed brand new baby Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale.  For those of you keeping track for betting purposes, this baby is a boy.  He was born at 12:46 pm on Thursday and weighed in at 8.5 pounds. 

Remember, the malt beverage that swept the nation in the 90's and was a favorite of my high school friends who partook in underage drinking is called Zima.  The Stefani-Rossdale baby is named Zuma.  Try not to get them confused - in other words, don't drink the baby.

Here's an answer to the rash of crazy celebaby names...

A little recycling program.  Jerry O'Connell who is expecting twins with wife Rebecca Romijn (Stamos - sorry, I have to do it, it hurts me to ignore their failed romance) jokes that they are going to name the twins Mary Kate and Ashley.

How very green of them.

You know, Rebecca plays a transexual in Ugly Betty.  I wonder if they are going to try to write the pregnancy into her story-line (pregnant transexuals are so vogue right now), or if she's just going to hide behind purses and boxes.  I love it when they ignore pregnancies on TV.  They have to be so creative.

Life comes at you fast...

just ask former American Idol contestant Sanjaya Malakar who is becoming a pitchman for Nationwide Insurance.  I won't spoil the premise of the commercial, but he will poke a little fun at himself, joining the ranks of other Nationwide Insurance pitchmen Kevin Federline, Fabio, and MC Hammer. 

I am sorry to say that Sanjaya couldn't get me to vote for him on Idol.  I'm pretty sure he won't persuade me to buy that insurance.  I'm just sayin'.

Daddys, Daddys everywhere!

Matt Damon and his wife Luciana gave birth to a baby girl on Wednesday.  The baby's name is Gia Zavala Damon and both baby and mommy are doing well. 

Matt and Luciana met while she was bartending in Florida where he was filming the movie Stuck on You.  Sidenote:  if you haven't seen that movie because you thought it looked stupid, you're right, it's kind of stupid, but it's really good stupid.  Anyhow, I hope this chick knows how lucky she is!  She is living every woman's dream.  To just be doing your job, living your life, and then get swept off your feet by (insert hot celebrity here).  I used to wish that Lou Diamond Phillips would drive by me in a limo while I was walking to my best friend Leah's house in Jr High and fall in love with me.  Yes, I'm aware of how disturbing that is on many levels. 

Another Daddy of note:  Ricky Martin.  He is the new father of twin boys born to a surrogate.  His rep says, "Ricky is elated to begin this new chapter in his life as a parent and will be spending the remainder of the year out of the public spotlight in order to spend time with his children."  The names of the babies and the location of their birth has not been released. 

Rehab has agreed with her...

Brigitte Nielsen who completed rehab with Dr. Drew Pinsky on the last season of Celebrity Rehab, is planning to pose for playboy like she did 20 years ago.  The 45 year old actress, reality star, rehab celebrity then plans to have another baby with her Italian husband Matteo.  Seriously, it's really nice to see her have a spark for life again that's not fueled by massive amounts of alcohol and pills.  I truly wish her well. 

The Hills, over the hill?

Ratings for this season's premiere of the Hills were down.  In the fourth season, ratings in the show's key 12-24 demographic were down 9% and down 5% in total viewers.  Even I, a self proclaimed Olympics hater, was more interested in watching Nastia Luikin win a gold medal.  I would take that over the psuedo celeb Lauren Conrad baby talking on a first date or Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt nurturing their dysfunctional relationship any day of the week.
