    For The Record...

Did you take the time to watch Britney Spears in her own words last night on MTV's Britney: For the Record?  If you missed it, no need to worry, it will be on 3,000 more times within the next month.  Also, I watched it for you.

I am amazed at the fact that I continue to a. be interested in Britney, and b. keep pulling for her.  I find myself feeling so sad for her when I see her tell her story in her own words.  The truth is none of us really do know what it's like to live in the limelight like that.  Even the argument that "she signed up for it" isn't really accurate.  I don't think anyone "signs up" for that level of fame.  She literally can't go anywhere without hundreds of people following her.  She didn't do that to herself, we did that to her.  How can we expect her to not be troubled?

And now, for my most hypocritical move of the day... I do have to say that she doesn't seem too in touch with what she's been through.  For instance, when discussing the head shaving incident she said, "People thought I was going crazy, but people shave their heads all the time."  No, Britney, not really.

In any case, I do recommend watching it.  It gives such a different perspective on this troubled pop star and really humanizes her.  I think we could all use a little humanizing of celebrities.

    Since I've been gone...

It's true that I've been away for a while, and while I've been away, I haven't followed the gossip like I normally do.  However, I did not miss out on this... SPENCER AND HEIDI ELOPED!!!  I know this is old news for some people, and that most normal people don't care, but seriously!  My inner skeptic thinks these two would do anything in the world to get their own series.  Really, would anyone watch it?  Forget that I asked that - I need to admit that I totally would.

We knew it would be troubling...

but not this troubling.  Tina Fey is finally opening up about where she got her famous facial scar, and it's even more sad than anyone could have imagined.  She says that when she was about five years old, a "mystery slasher" took a knife to her face while she was in the front yard of her house.  She tells Vanity Fair that she doesn't talk about it because, "It's impossible to talk about it without somehow seemingly exploiting it."  Fey and her husband talk about the incident in the January issue of Vanity Fair.

    Hef, they're dropping like flies...

First 'The Girls Next Door' co-star and Hef girlfriend/playmate Holly Madison leaves, and now Kendra Wilkinson is engaged.  Hugh Hefner says she has his blessing and he'll give her away at a wedding ceremony at the Playboy Mansion in June.  The bunny is engaged to Philidelphia Eagles receiver Hank Baskett.

I can't be the only one who totally doesn't get this show/lifestyle!  I mean, I just assumed that if you were one of Hef's harem, you only had eyes for Hef.  The thing is, I don't even think Kendra ever had eyes for Hef.  Whenever I watched the show (which was hardly ever), it seemed like she had eyes for fame, and that's why she was in it.  Hef, why all the girlfriends?  What happened to good old fashioned monogomy?  Try it, you might like it.

    So, who was that guy...

that Oprah was leaning on at Grant Park on election night?  Turns out, she didn't even know.  "Friends called me around the country and said, 'Who was with you?' I said, 'I don't know him, but he was very nice to me,'" Oprah says. "At one point I was just sobbing on his shoulder, mascara everywhere.  Thank you, Mr. Man, for letting me cry on your shoulder."

It turns out that the mystery man is named Sam Perry, and he is an investor who was also Communications Director for Silicon Valley for Obama.  So far, Sam Perry hasn't publicly commented on his moment with the Oprah.

    What do you think...

about Katy Perry's dress.  She wore this get-up to the MTV Europe Music Awards in Liverpool, England.  Your thoughts?

A word on our new president...

Regardless of your political affiliation, I hope you are able to put that aside to fully experience the depth of the historical moment that we are experiencing.  In a world where within the last 70 years would not allow black people to drink from the same water fountain, a world where black children and white children were once unable to go to school together, in this world, we have elected a black man, Barack Obama to lead our country.  This is progress, this is democracy, at its best.  You cannot ignore the beauty and hope of this.

A word on my favorite moment of election coverage...

I'll set the stage, NBC had some crazy graphics.  One in particular made me completely nauseous.  It looked like a circular room with two circles on the floor moving in opposition, and the scene outside the windows was also rotating so it almost looked like the room was spinning.  Ann Curry was using this room to show numbers and statistics as the polls reported.  Brian Williams asked the producers to show how they were creating the room, and the scene quickly changed to show Ann Curry standing alone in front of a green screen.  Here comes the best part, Ann Curry actually said something to the effect of, "Brian, I will do whatever it takes to get these important numbers out the American people."

Really Ann, whatever it takes?  I mean, is standing in front of that green screen making oodles of money doing your job really putting you out?

Link to the video here (the Huffington Post wouldn't let me post it).

    Moms are just as interested...

in the photos that have been released of the scene that was cut from HSM 3.  The scene revolved (using that term loosely) around Zac Efron's character, Troy Bolton singing and dancing in the shower.  The pictures are now available for your viewing below.  Don't be ashamed moms, you want to see this as much as (if not more than) your teenage daughters and that is perfectly okay.

Wow, Zac Efron is all grown up now.

It turns out they're just like the secret service...

willing to take a camera in the face for the star that they protect.  Jessica Simpson's friend and stylist, Ken Paves protected his friend from the paparazzi late last night.  The two were leaving an LA restaurant along with the rest of the Simpson entourage, and while Simpson was ducking to avoid the scores of paparazzi flashbulbs, one ended up in Paves' face along with the camera it was attached to.  The incident landed Paves in the hospital, no word on his condition.

The stars were out on Halloween...

This is my favorite of the Halloween costumes of the stars this year:

Okay, on the left, Project Runway winner Christian Siriano, clearly dressed up as Cruella Deville.  Fierce.

On the right, that's former supermodel and Project Runway host Heidi Klum, dressed up as... what????  Anyone?

    Welcome to the world, Archie!

Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update was clearly missing a little something this past weekend when Seth Myers announced that his cohost Amy Poehler was unable to perform that evening because she was having a baby!  Archie Arnett was born just hours before the show that made Amy Poehler famous aired on Saturday.  He weighed 8 lb. 1 oz.

She announced before the baby was born that she would not be returning to the show.  I am really going to miss her on SNL.  I am confident she'll pop up elsewhere and be so successful.

Song and dance reigns over blood and gore!

"High School Musical 3:  Senior Year" took in $42 million over its opening weekend, making the Disney flick number one at the box office.  "Saw V" came in second bringing in $35 million.  I am so excited about this movie, I think I might get a lawn sign stating, "Troy Bolton for president!"

    Jennifer Hudson's Nephew...

is still missing after the Oscar winner's mother and brother were found murdered in their home on the South side of Chicago.  7 year-old Julian King has been missing since Friday and Jennifer Hudson appealed on Sunday for the public's help in finding her nephew.  A person of interest is in custody.  Find the full story here

I'll give you 5 Selma Blairs for one Scarlett Johannson...

Because there are going to be celebrity trading cards.  You heard me right, like baseball cards, but they'll have celebrities on them.  Seriously.  Here's the full story
