Brooke Shields is outraged... and rightly so.  The former model claims that her 75 year old mother was checked out of her nursing home by a reporter who was trying to get a good "tabloid story".  Shields' mother suffers from dimentia, and was found safe shortly after she was signed out from the facility by the reporter.

    Brooke Shields tells People Magazine:

"My mother Teri Shields has been diagnosed with dementia. For her safety, she has temporarily been in a senior living facility, a very difficult decision for me," she says. "Late Thursday afternoon, I was alerted by Old Tappan Police that my mother had been signed out of the facility by two reporters of the National Enquirer ... who falsely claimed they were friends of hers."

She goes on to explain, "They then drove my 75-year-old mother around looking for a tabloid story. As anyone knows who has a parent who suffers from dementia or Alzheimer's, it is one of the most difficult experiences you can go through as a son or daughter. The idea that the National Enquirer took advantage of her state is reprehensible and disgusting."

The National Enquirer has responded in a statement, saying, "A freelance reporter who has known Teri Shields for more than 10 years visited her Thursday at the assisted living facility where Brooke says she moved her. Teri asked the reporter to take her out to lunch and to run some errands. The freelance reporter then got permission from the facility to do so."

    Obamamania!

It's hard to know whether some sort of Hollywood award show is happening tomorrow in Washington D.C., or if it is actually the long awaited inauguration!  The celebrities have decended upon Washington D.C. in support of the inauguration of our nation's 44th president, Barack Obama.  A two hour live broadcast on HBO called We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration which aired Sunday brought out such stars as U2, Bruce Springsteen, Beyonce, Tom Hanks, Sheryl Crowe, Denzel Washington, Mary J Blige.

Also, in a Nickelodeon sponsored Kids' Inaugural Concert, hosts will include Queen Latifa and Rosario Dawson.  Performances will be given by Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers (or the Jo Bros, as they're known at my house), Demi Lovato, and Usher.

I do think in the midst of this star studded fabulous-ness, it's important to recognize the impact of this time, and also to note the proximity of this inauguration of our first African-American president to a day that honors a man who worked so hard to make such a thing possible, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  Please, even if you have not been given the day off from work on this important national holiday, take a moment to reflect on the work of MLK, especially in light of the occasion tomorrow.  He would be so proud.

    Seriously, Amy?

Even though Amy Winehouse's husband Blake Fielder-Civil has filed for divorce, Winehouse says she won't let him divorce her.

This begs the question, why would you want to stay married to someone who doesn't want to be married to you?  Discuss...

You shouldn't have quit your day job...

Joaquin Phoenix.  Remember that he recently announced that he was retiring from acting?  Well apparently this is his next career move.  I can't say I think it's his calling... you be the judge.

People splittin' up right and left...

First the heartwrenching news about Madonna and Guy Ritchie - yup, it's official, they're getting a divorce.

Now we hear that David Duchovny who is fresh outta rehab for his self reported sex addiction has been separated from his wife Tea Leoni for "some time."

    'Housewives' star injured...

Gale Howard, who plays Teri Hatcher's new boyfriend in the 5 years in the future new season of Desperate Housewives was injured in a motorcycle accident.  According to Howard's publicist, he's one the mend, but TMZ is reporting that the hospital is giving another story.  A source at the hospital Howard is being treated at says that the actor is in critical condition.  In any case, this isn't a good situation.

For those who may care, my theory on the success of the stupid dog movie...

I'm going to go ahead and say it, any other time I would wonder why on earth the chihuahua movie is number one at the box office.  Right now, I totally get it.  I honestly think that people are so fed up with the tension of the election, the tension of the economy, the tension of the world - in an effort to find the most mind numbing entertainment, they flocked to the chihuahua movie.  What is it called anyway?  Beverly Hills Chihuahua?  Is that it?  Anyway, I will excuse it's popularity by going with my theory, but if this country gets all fixed any time soon, and another silly dog movie comes out and is number one at the box office, I'm going to have some serious questions.  I'm just sayin'.  I prefer to numb my mind with quality entertainment like Gossip Girl, 90210, and Project Runway.  Oh, and Top Model

    Such a Tiny Bundle...

I remember when I was a first time mom, people would come and see the baby and say, "you forget they were that tiny!"  I'd roll my eyes, because at the time, that baby didn't seem so tiny having just emerged from the holiest of holies (if you're catching my drift).  Then I saw this picture of Clay Aiken carrying his brand new bundle of joy... and I said it... out loud.  Then I rolled my eyes at myself:

The Claymates and I still can't believe he's a daddy!

Get to Amazon.com immediately if not sooner...

and get your order in for Lynne Spears' book about her experience parenting in the public eye.  It's sure to be a page turner (or a HUGE yawn).  The book is set to be released September 16, and will highlight her experience with Britney's overnight success, her reaction to Jamie Lynn's pregnancy, and an account of Britney's unravelling, first hand.  I hope she can make some money off this at the expense of her kids.  Wow, I didn't know I had that in me.  I feel much better.  In case you aren't going to buy the book, but are interested in judging a book by its cover:

    This will blow your mind...

Okay, it's totally not Hollywood Gossip, but I just want to say, if this were an Olympic sport, I could totally get behind it.  This is all shades of amazing!
