This NEVER happened in any of my college classes...

George Clooney NEVER showed up!  I also never had George Clooney's dad as a professor.  Nick Clooney, veteran journalist, teaches journalism at American University.  As part of his curriculum, he is showing "Good Night and Good Luck," the 2005 film written and directed by his son, George.

Clooney actually showed up at a screening of the movie held for students and faculty of the University.  Can you imagine?  I wonder what Brad Pitt's dad is up to?  If he's teaching anything, I might have to enroll in a class.

Two for the price of one...

for Molly Ringwald.  The actress who is known for her 80's movies and now plays the mother on Secret Life of an American Teenager is expecting twins.  This will be baby 2 and 3 for the actress and her husband Panio Gianopoulos.

Another reason to watch Dancing With the Stars

Donny Osmond leaked the news to Bonnie Hunt on her talk show that he'll be joining the cast of the next season of DWTS.  I saw Joseph and the Amazing Technocolor Dreamcoat 5 times because of him, I will not miss an episode of Dancing With the Stars this season!!!!!

    About the SAG Awards...

Generally when you say the word sag, it's not a good thing, unless you're talking about the Screen Actors Guild Awards.  In my opinion, this is the best and most exciting use of the word SAG!  I absolutely love this award show.  It might be my favorite, but I haven't committed, yet.

A couple highlights of last night's broadcast:

Will Arnett's intro (apologies for poor video quality):

Amy Poehler and John Krazinski's presentation of Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series:

I also particularly appreciated the length of the award show, just over 2 hours.  It was the perfect way to spend a Sunday night.  I love award show season!!!  I can't wait for the Oscars!

    Second time's a charm...

At 7:35 p.m. on Wednesday evening, President Obama took the oath of office... again.  Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr. flubbed his lines at the original swearing in and in an effort to "make it more official" the two staged a do-over.

White House Counsel Greg Craig (editorial comment:  Did you see that his name is Greg Craig!) said in a statement, "We believe the oath of office was administered effectively and that the president was sworn in appropriately on Tuesday.  But the oath appears in the Constitution itself. And out of abundance of caution, because there was one word out of sequence, Chief Justice Roberts administered the oath a second time."

Note to self, always follow the script... always.

    Lost anyone???

I don't know about you, but after the premiere of Lost last night, I am more lost than ever.  Anyone have any insights that can keep a girl up to speed?  This whole time travel thing is blowing my mind.  I am not disappointed though... what about you?

    As for tonight...

Don't forget to set your DVR for the usual Office, 30 Rock, Ugly Betty, and Grey's Anatomy.  The season premiere of Burn Notice on USA is at 9:00 tonight.  The premise:  Former spook Michael Westen (Jeffery Donovan), stuck in his hometown of Miami when he's "burned" by the agency, is still trying to find out who ruined his life.

Just one quick thing on the Inauguration...

    Okay 2 quick things...

    1.  Malia Obama and her digital camera.  I couldn't help but think this was the cutest thing I'd seen.  Of course she'd be taking pictures!  This is the most important day of her family's life!  All day, I wondered what it must be like to be those gorgeous little girls, and Malia and her camera gave me a good idea.  I remember being that age and taking pictures of anything and everything that meant something to me.  I bet we'll see those pictures some day in a memoir by her.

    2.  I remember dancing at my wedding in front of 350 people, that felt like pressure, how about this...  and a private serenade by Beyonce... don't you wonder what they're saying to eachother?

Honestly, it seems as though there's nothing to report in Hollywood because all of Hollywood is in Washington DC.  Instead I'll remind you to...

    SET YOUR DVR!!!!

Tonight is the season premiere of LOST!  Also, Lie to Me premieres on Fox at 8pm.  The premise:  Dr. Cal Lightman (Tim Roth, aka Mr. Orange from Reservoir Dogs) deals with the professional upsides and personal downsides of being a human lie detector.
