    Location:
    Fridley, MN
    Career: Property mgr./remodeler
About Me: I'm from Northeast Minneapolis. A few years ago, I moved to Fridley, but I'm still a Nordeaster at heart. Tippytoesk8er is an inline-skating nickname, but in the real world my name is Gina. I've been married to my husband Karl since mid-1999. He writes crime novels in his free time, but hasn't yet put in enough of the footwork required to get any of them published. Bike tours are something we both enjoy -- Karl, because he likes the party atmosphere and watching miles of green landscape go by. I like bike tours because of how clean and enjoyable the house is while Karl is away. We share our home with two large, fuzzy felines named Rover and Rocky. ------------ I'm a recovering skateaholic. My inline skates are semi-retired now. I used to compete in races -- my best was the Northshore Inline Marathon in which I got second place in my division with a time of 1:28.29. For that, my reward was getting laughed at while I gracelessly crawled onto the podium later that evening. Now, the only race I can win is the one to the gutter. I tried short-track racing for a while, but it turned out to be painful in a MN Rollergirls kind of way. But, at least the uniform didn't include any lingerie. I'm a board member of the MN Inline Skate Club (M.I.S.C.), and sometimes write articles and edit the newsletter, which is scary considering my oftentimes odd usage of the English language. ------------ I'm on Gabster because it's one of my New Year's resolutions. Most of the people I'm in contact with from day to day are those whom I have met through the Skate club. I'm grateful to be surrounded by such a wonderful group of friends, but I think it's a good idea to diversify.
Hobbies: 1. Trying new recipes and wines
    2. Fitness and health (often a conflict with #1.)
    3. Discovering new music
    4. Cryptograms
THINGS I SHOULD FIND MORE TIME FOR:
    1. Inventing new stained-glass creations
    2. Photography
Favorite FM107.1 Show(s): Whatever is on during the times I'm able to listen, but I especially appreciate the humor of Colleen & the Boys and Lori & Julia
Music: This could get really looong; can I do it later?
Movies: I don't see many. But, back when War Of The Worlds was showing, I went to see it a little while after doing a 14 mile run. I was ready to chill out and relax in a nice movie theater, but when the movie started I realized I was in for a lot more cardio-excitement. I literally thought the suspense would kill me.

Being an INFJ, it's logical that you would like the quote on my page! That's what we're all about. Extroverts are usually gathering feet with their mouths because they prefer to think out loud. LOL!

    Is the acupuncture working?

Thankfully the kids don't take advantage during my tired days. I find that I am completely affected by the cleanliness of the house. If I keep it up and get it semi-clean (I still have those rooms that I don't really touch)... then I feel so much better. I believe a part of me measures my self-worth through what I accomplish. Unfortunately, this is not a great way to live when you've been sick alot :)
However, if I take each task one at a time, it helps.
Hope your weekend is going well.

I'm starting to wonder just how much mulch I will need. I have some large gardens to fill. Unfortunately, we don't own our house, we rent... so I cannot take out any of the gardens. However, I keep them up and am trying to revamp things this year.

It was so nice to meet you at Gabby Hour last night! I hope you had a good time! Keep an eye on the message boards where we will usually post other informal get-togethers.

    Hope your day is fabulous!

Thankfully, once I went down to do the laundry, it all came. I got three pages down (handwritten) and now I just have to piece it together into something that makes sense. It's much easier for me to brainstorm by hand because I can see the paragraphs and sometimes move them physically around by cutting and pasting. When I was in school, I would often type it out and once I'd spell-checked it... I would print it out and work from there. It was just easier for me to see it that way.
Now... I have the flu and hope that soon it will pass because I want to get this done by Friday.

    You are inspiration!
What a heartfelt comment. I can only imagine the challenges that you've had throughout the years. Keeping positive and willing to "fight it out" is something that not many would have done. Right now, we are battling with one child who "can't do it" but really "won't". She has shown no evidence of a disability, but chooses to sit in the negative and put up a learning roadblock on her own. We are trying to encourage her and teach her that she can if she puts her mind to it. I am petrified that at such a young age she has already begun to sing the "can't" because learning can be difficult without a personal mental roadblock.

Thoughts on connection: I do believe that many people struggle with what to say and/or write. It's not easy to create a blog or keep up on the threads. However, it used to be that we had blogs coming in every hour of the day. It saddens me because some of us still care. We still believe in this forum and still want to connect over this site. I like the atmosphere (for the most part). I honestly believe that sometimes many of us just feel like there is nothing to say (myself included), when we are dealing so much else.
    Does that make sense?
Well... hugs to you! Hope your day is going well.
