Strength Training Advice?

I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on some research tools for strengh training at the gym.  Such as a great website or book that explains how to PROPERLY lift free weights and work with the machines.  If I could afford it I would use a trainer - no extra $$ for that right now, though.

Thanks for any help I can get.

Two websites for you:

Good luck!  At least you can afford a gym membership.  I'm doing calisthenics in my living room.

Thank you for the help!

Yea, I completely lucked out into a $5 joiner fee and only $40 a month.  I wouldn't have been able to do it without that!

Ask the gym if your membership includes a free personal training session. Most include one, if not two of them. Otherwise, ask around the gym for people that may want to do personal training with you. Way cheaper and a lot more fun if you do it in a small group.

Hmmmm... work out buddies...that could be fun.

I did do the free personal trainer thing already - that's why I know I need the help! Undecided  I really just don't want to injure myself, ya know?

Working out with some people is awesome!! Keeps everyone motivated!!! Plus, the trainer will always give you a print-out of your work-out so you can do it on your own time as well. Find a trainer you love (you may have to sample a few of them to see if you connect or not). Then gather up friends, split the costs and have fun!!!!
