Well, I'm sort of sorry Cooper Lawrence is gone, but it really was a lot of music and it felt sometimes as if the talk segments in any one program were recorded on different days. I began to sour on her show after she gave David Faustino what can be best described as the Howard Stern treatment. I think the solution is to give Sheletta her own show. She's naturally talented and very funny. |

Hi, I did love Cooper, but really was not liking all the music on there as I listened to her for her commentary! Bummer.

I have to admit that I don't like Sheletta's sense of humor at all. I don't know her so I can't say I don't like *her* but her brand of humor is to exaggerate for a laugh and that got old real quick when she was a guest on Kevyn's show. I'd change the station whenever Sheletta was on, and I still do. I'm sure she's a very nice person, but her sense of humor and how she exaggerates EVERYTHING to get a laugh just really got to me to the point that I started to cringe at the sound of her voice. If she gets her own show, I am one listener that won't be tuning in. ----------- As for Ian Punnett, I came to FM107.1 from AM1500 because of him. I started listening to FM107.1 when Ian was simulcast for a few months on both stations while he transitioned over and I've stayed ever since. I was sad when he switched to the early morning slot because I wasn't able to listen to his entire show, but podcasting has changed that. Adding Margery to the show was a great addition. Since he's already got a national market, I'm wondering if FM107.1 could bank on that and see about getting other markets to carry his show. This would help some of the financial difficulties the station is having and maybe provide the funds to produce a new show in the evening slot. Of course, bringing the Satellite Sisters back would be great too. |

Thanks for providing the answer to Cooper Lawrence's disappearance from 107.1. I wondered why there seemed to be more and more music on her show. I thought she was just extending "bumper" music and forgot it was her job to be talking. Cooper was okay, but the greatest loss to 107.1's programming, IMHO, was when The Satellite Sisters show was dropped. Their interesting style, variety of perspectives and different areas of expertise fit perfectly into the women's oriented talk format. I was surprised to read some Lori bashing on this thread. I relate to neither L or J on a personal level but think that their affection for each other despite their different styles is one of the reasons their show works. They share a love of fashion and gossip, which many listeners must find entertaining. The more worldly-wise and and blunt Lori balances Julia's softer-edged, soccer-mom persona. They both love to laugh, and likely it is the interplay of their different personalities that makes their show successful. Dr. Joy might be the weakest link in the current line-up on 107.1. I am not proud of the fact that I am interested in call-in Q & A shows, and am embarrassed to admit I occasionally even tried to listen to Dr. Laura years ago on my drive to work...but listening to her raised my blood pressure. When I first heard Dr. Joy, I thought her more reasoned and less judgmental opinons were easier to listen to...but I think she has changed. Dr. Joy seems to spend most of her on-air time pontificating and reading aloud from studies and articles. When callers are allowed to speak, she seems eager to cut them off in order to get back to listening to her own voice. I would prefer listening to other 107.1 replays. I hope 107.1 continues to provide local talk programming and will add diverse voices to their line-up. |

Yes, thank you for the explanation of CL shows changes, then disappearance. I too was thinking that she was getting too big for her britches or to busy.. and extending the bumpers... so much music. I can get than on any other station. I enjoyed hearing her opinions, her gossip, her celeb insight... will miss that show. Shelletta.. NO.. no show of her own.. unless you want another listener to tune out at that time. As another poster said, her exaggerated humor just grates on my nerves. I'm sure the is very nice. Love her commitment to her family... but must she try so hard to get a laugh! Must admit that I have to change the channel when she is on. It's sad! It's actually frustrating.. sometimes, I just want to hear intelligent or at least witty people chat.. and I even give her a chance.. I listen until she annoys me.. and that is usually one or two sentances or even words. Sometimes, it seems like she says just a phrase or word to be heard... but it really adds no substance to the conversation. L and J... yah, hard to listen to sometimes. Sometimes I just shake my head. Really, can you be that misinformed.. or not care about your job that much that you don't research what you are talking about? Really?? Funny to listen to, but hard to listen to at the same time. Ian and Margery.... love the intelligent talk! The reason I still tune in.. though I don't start listening until about 6:30.. so haven't noticed who is late and who is not. I appreciate that they take the time to research, and have enough intelligence to pronounce words/names correctly, or ask if they are not sure. Then, if corrected, they pronounce correctly from that time on. I have never posted anything.. good or bad.. but when seeing some others write, I realized that I am not the only one who thinks what I have been thinking..... |

PLEASE, I beg of you, do not give Sheletta her own show. Ignore any of my other suggestions, but please hear me on this one! I've had to stop listening to Kevyn (whom I ADORE) because Sheletta is just too much for me and I don't think she is funny at all. I'm sure she is a lovely person, but it is almost like she brings out Kevyn's nasty side.....which I do not like at all. |

Doesn't Sheletta already have her own show at the weekend with Reuvers? |

Sheletta's personality and style might translate better on her local TV program (which I haven't seen) or doing stand-up. Her little bits on Almanac are okay. I am not sure whether her own radio show would be a good thing...maybe her personality would actually be better suited to something other than a "sidekick" role...but she is a little "too much" for me...I tend to wish she would calm down a bit. I agree with an earlier post about appreciating Ian and Margery's professionalism and attention to standards. L & J don't usually really bother me...but listening to them is like listening to party chatter. Ian and Margery are well educated and experienced professional people who are less about gossip and idle chat and more about relevant family, community and world issues...witty and smart! |
