The list was off the top of the skull, and even though i'm fairly new to the state and cities... I take great pride in the station and the people I've met because of it (which is mostly what the list is comprised of). I mean no disrespect to any left off the list. |

Hey, I'm here. Admittedly, I have gotten more into the "F word" site lately but that's cuz I'm a follower and everyone seemed to be going there instead. As others have noted, I am extremely grateful for the fantastic group of friends I got from the Gabster site. It isn't as important that we stay connected on Gabster, specifically, as it is just that we stay connected. Love my G-friends! |

I gotta holla back on this because I'm still here, but haven't been signing on as often anymore. I'm surprised to be included on the list, since I've only been a Gabster for a very short time. Back in January, I started Gabster and Facebook at the same time, and for the busy summer months Facebook has won my limited time by default because I'm already using it to communicate with other friends and family who are there. But for me, Facebook doesn't measure up because, for one example, there's no message board like this (as others have mentioned) and every time I want to goof off over there, I run the risk of offending someone who may not have the superior sense of humor that Gabsters possess. I have no intention of disappearing from Gabster permanently.
The negativity I've seen on the message board and in the occasional blog here has been somewhat of a turnoff for me, but it wasn't until the total ratio of positive to negative content changed that I signed off. (I used to stay signed in 24/7 just to aid myself in staying active on the site.) Also, I agree with LeeLoo about not relating to a lot of message board and blog topics lately. I plan to pop back in occasionally and take a peek in case that changes though.
One other thing; SleepyWillow mentioned the advantage of anonymity that having a screen-name provides, and that's absolutely the reason I ever showed up in the first place. It totally allows the extrovert who lives within me to come out of the closet for a while and interact socially, even if I might do the introverted Scandinavian clam-up thing in person when faced with a roomful of near strangers. (And I'm not even Scandinavian.) Attending the Gabby Hour at Marin's Table during late Spring was one of the most terrifying, but best things I've ever done. Those who think there's a 'clique' are mistaken because what I've found is a bunch of people who will welcome even a goofball closet extrovert.
Oh, and to get to what the real topic is supposed to be, Gabsters I've met appear to have quite a bit in common, and when not, they accept their differences.
Well, my 2 cents seems to have multiplied to about a buck ten. Once the extrovert from the closet gets loose, I just won't shut up. |

Gotta agree with most everybody's comments. I am blessed to have met such awesome friends through the site and I do pop in from time-to-time.
Jess...calling you out on forgetting me. I forgive you sweet friend! |
