I haven't checked Gabster since August.....Facebook happened and problems with Gabster left it (n my estimation)
dead. When the station itself no longer promotes it or supports it as another stream for revenue or marketshare, it
speaks volumes.

Now they've not renewed Kevyn Burger's contract.  They say they are going to more of a "pop culture", "celebrity news", and "gossip" slant.  The shows I listen to DO NOT have this as a main theme.

So does this mean that intelligent, well-spoken, and truly witty people will not have a place at 107.1?  Are they trying to attract the lowest common denominator?

I am disgusted.

I don't recall the Gabster site itself having problems -- I do remember the original format (the LOL site) having problems with things loading. (It took forever.) I also remember the Party Town thread getting censored and that many felt it was inappropriately handled (and in my opinion, it was handled inappropriately.)

I think that since so many people are now using Facebook and Hubbard doesn't have to do a lot to maintain the Facebook site, they feel it's a better use of funds to maintain something on FB rather than putting much into this site.

The site has been a great way for the listeners to intially get connected and I know many of the listeners from meeting them at Party Town and other events. There are others that I've never really met, but I feel like I know. I think the site was/is a great stepping off point for getting the original members more comfortable with social networking.

Obviously, I still post here -- mostly because I come to the site on a Monday-Friday basis to listen on-line at work. I do check to see what is in the box on the botton for new posts and check them out. When the site first started, that box would have been changing every 5 minutes during peak times.

My guess is that Hubbard will keep the site but will not do any upgrades to the site and eventually it will just go away.
