Today we announce that we have made a very difficult decision.  FM107.1 has decided not to renew Kevyn Burger’s contract. 

Kevyn has been with FM107.1 from the start of its evolution. She has entertained you on-air – engaged you at station events and done amazingly effective work endorsing our clients. She has developed important and enduring relationships with our staff, our advertisers and you – our listeners.

For the past six years FM107.1 has been on a challenging (and wonderful) journey to find its voice. 
We use audience research and ratings information to provide a map for that journey. Changes in the market, changes in our brand essence, and recent changes in the way we are rated necessitate that we continually test and measure the decisions we make.
It is an ongoing evolution.

Kevyn is a wonderful broadcaster. A pro’s pro. 

In the early evolution of FM107.1 she reflected perfectly - who we were and who we tried to be. It was Real. Life. Conversation. During the past two years FM107.1’s ‘flavor’ has changed – or more precisely – evolved. FM107.1 has and will continue to evolve toward a radio station that is defined by words like “pop culture”, “celebrity news” and “gossip.” Sadly - our internal and external research tells us that Kevyn did not reflect that essence. We are disappointed that our professional plans can’t include her. We are even sadder that our personal and professional lives won’t include her on a daily basis any longer.

This decision is not about professionalism. It’s not about hard work, or attitude. Kevyn performed in all those areas, and more. This decision is simply about fit. We do think you deserve an explanation. We don’t expect you to be happy about the change – we sure aren’t.

We want to thank Kevyn Burger all the many contributions she has made to FM107.1 during the past six years. They will not be forgotten. It’s been quite a journey – and it’s not over yet – but we have been proud to have Kevyn as our traveling companion. We wish her nothing but the best.

They said it was "announced".  When did they announce it?  I haven't listened to all the shows today, but in listening to Kevyn's on demand, she says she'll be back tomorrow.  Did they do it between shows?  Does anyone know? 

Amber....I just read they fired her right after she went off the air today.

They use audience research and ratings??  No one ever asked me!!

When they fired Meredith didn't they complain she was too pop culture or some crap like that?  I can't believe they fire Kevyn and keep Lori and Julia. What a bunch of crap!
