My thyroid doctor prescribed it for me and I'm just curious if anyone had the same side effects I did. I got a rash on my neck and chest and was sent to the dermatologist and I was horrified when he asked me if I was growing any hair on my face or other unwanted places, voice deepening and bulking up in the muscle dept. Anyway, he said the rash was caused by the DHEA.
Yes! I have a few hormone problems and had labs done to look at everything and how I was doing. My DHEA was really low. At first I tried tablets (OTC pills 50mg) and it brought my DHEA up to normal but it also started to bump my Estrodiol up. Being a guy? I don't need lots of Estrogen so my Doctor and I tried not using any DHEA. But here is the deal. For me low DHEA = not being able to dream at night. My Doctor said that this was probably goofing up my REM sleep and making restful sleep difficult. *Which was true btw! So she prescribed a compounded DHEA from a Compounding pharmacy. I use only 15 mg now and it can either be a patch or a rub on cream. I started dreaming again which is great and wake up rested which is also great! Using it transdermaly doesn't spike my Estrogen.
I'm NOT a doctor. Just a patient but DHEA (Pill form) taken by women tends to spike your Testosterone. So hair, Acne etc might all be from that. Speak to your doctor and ask him/her if you can try taking it in a cream or patch. If you need a Pharmacy to make this up try calling Moudry's Professional Pharmacy in St Paul. You will need a doctors prescription. They mail out mine and I think they do a great job.
And do have labs done when you do your yearly physical so your doctor can adjust the dose.
