Any one know of a good place to find cheap new or gently used furniture. I really need some new stuff. I am moving December 1st, I know snow, uugh! I am going to ditch the old stuff and hope to find new by then. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks! Have a great day! |

Have you tried looking at a furniture store? |

Sarah- I would recommend Cort furniture in Bloomington. They are a furniture rental store, but they sell all the pieces that are overstock or retired. There is also a new outlet in Savage called "That Furniture Store" off of 13 that is similar to 5 Day Furniture. They have some pretty good deals as well. |

Craigslist. Keep your standards high and don't be afraid to check something out and then not buy it. We're coming up on the end of the month (when everybody is moving) so just check back daily. Make sure you sit on furniture anywhere you go because I've found that cheap new furniture is often rock hard or uncomfortable. Also, as gross as it may be to put your face close to where people's butts go, smell cushions, deeply. Febreeze can only mask so much cat pee and even new furniture can have factory finishes that reeeeeek. Nobody wants a smelly couch. |

It really depends on the style you're looking for Ikea has some decent stuff Some of it you have to put together yourself, but it's well made. If you don't have a truck to bring the stuff home with you, they do next-day home delivery for $49 |

You can find some surprisingly nice things at thrift stores. And yes, Craigslist can be a goldmine as well. Then there's always Ikea....

I bought a desk from Ikea, it said on the side of the box "Self Assembly" I sat there and watched it for 3 hours and it didn't do anything In the end I had to put it together myself |

Ikea also has a "used" section where their furniture display stuff goes. You can buy their stuff much cheaper and just buy new slip-covers for the couches or chairs. Rugs and other assorted furniture is pre-assembled and might have a couple of dinks or signs of wear but is very affordable. Another thing to do is to figure out exactly what you need and list it on Craigslist. Don't be afraid of trading items or maybe just purchasing things. I agree with Jexica... check it out thoroughly before you purchase. Just because you said you wanted to look at it, doesn't mean that you are required to buy it. |

Department stores often sell their display items at a discount. I got an entertainment center this way once and it served me well for years. However, it was angry beast and I had to "put it down". |
