lostluv, I have been diabetic since about 1990. Have you been diagnosed? What type? Did your doc give you any meds? I have never really had a problem unless my numbers are high. I also do not follow the new diets, counting carbs. I follow the "old school", of controled portions, watch the sugar and watch the starch, and love veggies with no dip for snacks. |

I was on Metformin/Glucophage also. I never had problems. I am not on a new drug called Actos (not sure if that is a generic or not). I would say that if the tiredness keeps up, go and see your doc. The two might not even be related. Do you try and keep to a schedule for when you take your meds, sleep, etc? That might help out. It is so much easier just to watch what you eat and do so in moderation. I tried the carb count and it was a pain in the butt. |

Yes, they say you can actually stop the progression if you loose weight. |

I know it's easy for me to say relax, I am not the one doing this. But I have had so much done to me in my 39 years. Think of a month or so from now, the docs will have the info they need, you will be on the meds that help you best, and you fell so much better. Plus, just look at all the friends available to you here. |

Type II
Take Glipozide -5mg and Metformin 2000mg.
Glipizide will F you up if you don't monitor your food/sugar intake and make the mistake of exercising within 2 hours of taking it. Hypoglycemic reactions are not fun. Neither is passing out in front of your wife. |

Niaspan is the drug name for a time-released niacin. Niacin is also known as vitamin B3. Generally it plays a big role in energizing the metabolism. You can buy niacin wherever you'd buy vitamins. The down fall is that niacin gives you hot flashes, especially in the high doses needed to boost your metabolism. Niaspan has the high dose but since it is time-released the hot flushing doesn't last long. I was told by my doctor that as my weight goes down the chance that my borderline type II will go away. I have already seen a reduction in my fasting blood sugar levels and my triglycerides (which were off the chart!) I have lost 22 pounds so far since being on the Niaspan and feel more energy - not every day mind you, but more often than not. |
