I am invited to a family shower in a few weeks. The party is being hosted by the bride's mom's aunt. The bride's mom, as well as the groom's mom and stepmom, will be there as well.
I'm trying to come up with a nice bridal shower gift as a "sorta" mother of the bride. Given the situation, I don't want to err on either extreme of price or extravagance. (To be honest, I would prefer not to go the registry route.) We are paying a portion of the wedding and giving a nice wedding gift, but I still want to bring a nice gift to the shower.
Does anyone have ideas, or perhaps were in a similar situation? |

Is she a cook? You could get some very nice cooking things....pots and pans, apron, specialty olive oils, etc... If she is not a cook, what about a gift certificate to a great deli or grocery store? Maybe a gift certificate for Simon Delivers or Lunds/Byerly's.
Does she like to garden? What about a beautiful pot filled with gardening tools and a gift certificate for a garden center?
Is there a concert or play that her and her husband would like to go to? You can buy them tickets for it!

When i was married, I had 4 showers that my mother needed to attend, and my mother-in-law. My MIL gave me a great gift, a laundry basket over flowing with cleaning products and laundry soap. It was so welcomed. My mother gave me a small tool box filled with every day tools, 17 years later, I still have it. She also made my lucky penny. A penny with the current year on it, and a small blue ribbon. That covered my something new, blue and also a lucky penny in my show. Again, still have it. She also had one when she was married. A chafing dish is great if she likes to host parties. Does she have her toasting glasses? Has she chosen her cake top? |
