My simple advice to you when dealing with Wells Fargo... just make sure you NEVER get behind on a payment or miss a payment...they will literally HARASS you with phone calls, on the hour ever hour, weekdays and weekends, even if you tell them you are paying it soon...they are relentless and very badgerring...we had been warned about them, but until we actually got into some finacial trouble, we found out we will never deal with them ever again... just my personal take. Good Luck.

I have accounts at TCF, my husband at Fargo. Both for over 15 years. We took out a small loan from Fargo. Nothing out of the ordinary, until we paid off the loan. They would constantly call with the old "can we do anything else". The called so often, always someone from a different office, that I had to go farther up in management and also called each branch. No problems, just annoying. |

My hubby works for Wells Fargo and I've always been a TCF girl. Here are some "WF" goodies for you...
#1: #2: Wells Fargo has #3: The upside is that when you deposit money in your WF account, $100 of it is available RIGHT AWAY. The problem I had at TCF is that they have LOST very LARGE DEPOSITS not ONCE, not TWICE but THREE TIMES. BE GLAD YOU JOINED WELLS FARGO. I'LL BE FOLLOWING YOU SOON. |

GoddessMissy is absolutely right about choosing WF over TCF...my husband just closed his account with them...the biggest joke is not being able to access your own money right away once you deposit it... and they will constantly charge you fees and never reverse charges! Good Advice! |

I had major TCF issues, and with Wells Fargo too, and not the greatest luck with my current. I'm starting to wonder if my paranoid uncle is right that banks are the devil.

Anything is better than TCF!!! Personally though, I've been with a very small bank for years with ZERO problems, ever. The larger the branch, the easier it is for them to make mistakes.

My husband banks with Wells Fargo, I bank with US Bank. He has had some problems with held deposits. At one point in time, they held a large check for 15-20 days before releasing the funds to his account. He did deposit the check in the ATM. He had written checks on the account-he has overdraft protection but received 200-300.00 in bank fees. They said that the check was from an unknown source-but it was from a regular customer of his for the last four years. Ultimately, Well's Fargo made good on all charges to his account-it was a hassle-but I imagine you would experience this everywhere. We have our mortgage through WF and have been happy with that (it also gives us a bit more leverage on the smaller charges.) I've never had difficulties with US bank.

We have been with Wells Fargo for many years and have never had a problem, so I never thought much about it. Then about 3 months ago, I needed to deposit the final settlement check from insurance on my home rebuild after the fire. It was a very large check, and I needed the money to be immediately available to pay my builder. Although the normal policy is 5 days on a check of that size, they agreed to waive it once I explained the situation, so I was able to write the check and get the builder off my *ss. I greatly appreciated that.

I really like Wells Fargo. I have never had a problem with them. I was with them since they were Northwest or whatever it was. I finally just got my boyfriend to switch over from US Bank. US Bank charges fees for EVERYTHING! Wells Fargo has reversed fees for me also, I accidently used the check card once when it was supposed to go on the credit card. Also - I used to work in the retail accounting business... All of the banks have switched over to a phone system that only allows people to verify an account number. TCF still will verify funds. So, if you have a TCF account, you can call a number and figure out how much $ they have. Try it 612-338-8995 (I still remember the number after a year!). Also, TCF had the vast majority of bad checks written, stolen or tampered with. |
