I'd give him credit on one thing that all the songs on the album don't sound the same as the previous track.

Something that a lot of artists tend to do, it ends up sounding as if it's one track 45 minutes long and they just split it up in 10 sections to make it seem as if you're getting your money's worth

At least we can agree on that one.

Probably another reason why I don't care much for Nickelback or Coldplay

Yeah I can hear that, but similarity in one song does not qualify a sweeping statement of unoriginality.  I think you would be hard pressed these days to find even a CD full of songs that do not sound like different songs.  Listen to the rest of the Album and I think that you will see that no other song sounds like that one.  The deeper songs that will never hear radio play are the best ones on there. 

When all is said and done whether or not a song gets to be a rehashing of other works, it still has his sound which did differ significantly from Jamiroqui.  Jason Mraz's music does tend to make me happy which cannot be said about enough things these days.  So whether or not a song or two sound like a different song, it makes no difference to me. 

You want 2 songs that really sound alike, check out Joe Satriani's If I Could Fly and Coldplay's Viva la vida.  Or any Nickelback song and any other Nickelback song
