Hi there,
I just want to take a moment to respond to some of the reaction I've been reading on this site and others.
Though I agree people should be allowed to speak their minds on Kevyn's departure - and they did and were given the forum - I do not believe it should be used as an opportunity to bash and degrade the other hosts on the station...who, by the way, are friends of Kevyn...and dear friends of mine. She would be appalled...I was appalled reading some of the racist and hateful messages.
Were there vaild points made on the facebook page and in this forum? Absolutely. ABSOLUTELY. Kevyn is a brilliant broadcaster and her departure is our loss. And please, don't misunderstand me, I don't take opinions about OUR broadcast personally...believe me, I know our show is fun and goofy...or "fluff" as many of you have titled it. :-)
However, everyone should remember that behind every one of these sometimes nasty and critical comments, is a human being...but we are also friends, dads, mothers, brothers, aunts...who have to "read" these comments. Our families read these comments.
And, I firmly believe the, "well, they're public figures" and "Get tougher skin!" excuse, is just that...an easy crutch for cowards. Because these hateful comments are never said to our faces...they are cloaked behind a safety net of a computer and a "send" button. And anyone can be full of courage using those tools.
Beyond the hurtful messages, I would like to thank you for taking the time to show your support to my dear friend Kevyn...I just wish it had been done in a more constructive less mean-spirted manner.
I wish each and everyone of you, nothing but the best!
Jason

I listen to the station everyday and catch some of every show at least once a week. I have my favorites and then my not as favorites. BUT I HAVE A CHOICE. There are buttons on my radio that can tune me out if I am not satisfied with what is presented.
ANNE FINDLEYKevyn's sudden departure was shocking and extremely disappointing. But in order to express that frustration and disappointment, I agree, there is no need to be hurtful. But I wonder if it's not a testament to how people feel the need to lash back when they've been hurt and disappointed. (A reason, not an excuse.)
My concern is that if Kevyn is not part of the demographic, what direction will the station be headed towards in the near future and is there a distant future. Since finding 107.1 I HAVE NEVER TUNED OUT and I would truly miss the current format if it were to change drastically or dissapear completely.
