I'm hoping that if I frame it properly for the kids, they will find enjoyment in the time-spent aspect of Christmas. After all, being together, working together, loving each other in a physical and service-oriented way can be extremely powerful. Sometimes the best gifts include time and service. Besides, this is the value-system that will carry them further.

I'm the same way. I make up everything, except when baking. However, I wanted to get this recipe right and I was craving this soup. So, I decided to follow it to a "T".

Your cake example was similar to once when I put too much soda in pancakes. It was just gross :)

Thankfully, boys are good at eating the food regardless, and I'm certain that the ganache helped!

I agree! It sucks to feel like someone who is trying to be helpful has made it all worse. After all, I can portion out my time so that if I start a project, I finish it. Plus, if I don't have the time to finish everything, I will only bite off the chunck that I CAN finish.

I don't know how to be nice about it.

My husband told them to not rake at our place anymore. I think she is kinda insulted. However, he told her that I don't like big piles in my hard (of course he could have said that the resulting brown spot is really what I hate). He also told her that he would appreciate it if they would communicate with us prior to taking on a big project like that.

    *sigh*

I don't know if there are any easy answers. I guess simply trying to communicate better. Maybe I should have asked that whatever portion of the lawn that they got done, that it would be completely done. If they want to rake, fine. However, don't bite off more than you can finish. I just don't have the time!!! Jer and I went out this morning and moved the largest most gigantic pile of leaves off our lawn.

I need to stick up for myself... right?

    We'll figure it out, right?

Just read your post r.e. the "cool kids" I think the more people post, the better we get to know another. I'm excited to meet new peopl on the site vs. the sam people who typically post.

P.S. I think I talked to you for a bit at the last Mairin's Table event but didn't introduce myself-I blame preggo hormones and exhaustion. You were wearing a cute dress if I remember, right? Anyhow, am sending you a friend request.

While I may have been with this site for a long time I wouldn't catagorize myself with the "cool kids". I do not have anymore information than the average joe and I do not hang out with any of the personalities, nor am I close friends with any of them. However, I have worked in radio before (NOT with hubbard) So I do have a more informed perspective in that regards than most.
