    Wow-I have a whole star!

Sunday, August 26, 2007, 06:18 PM CST [General]

I feel so much better now that I have a full star and am not just a half of a star type of gal.

This is how badly I am procrastinating paying bills today...I was just checking my email on yahoo, when I saw that there was one contact available for chat.  It was me.  I spent about 5 minutes chatting with myself.  I am such a dork!

    Thinking in blogs

Sunday, August 26, 2007, 12:26 PM CST [General]

An unfortunate side effect of the LOL community is that I am now constantly thinking in blog. It started yesterday at Costco when someone zipped in front of me (across the parking lot) to take a parking spot that I was trying to get. “Why is it that people steal parking spots-and is it stealing if it’s not yours…” went through my brain. I continued on narrating the entire shopping experience in my head “is is wrong to buy bulk when there is only two in a household…note to other shoppers-please give fair warning before abruptly stopping your cart in the middle of the store…today I saw a baby with a Mohawk…” etc. It continued to Petco where I made up a little mini blog about a fat bunny (the size of a cat!) In my head, I decided I would place FAT in all capitals-and then wonder if this made the bunny feel bad.

This morning while making breakfast-Istarted thinking in Forums: What’s your favorite breakfast item? I like scrambled eggs with salsa and Golden Grahams..

Does this happen to anyone else? Since the automatic Voice over may last awhile, I am going to spend the rest of the day deciding on a celebrity to narrate my life…HA! Another forum topic: If you had to choose which celebrity would you have narrate your life.

    The Fair

Saturday, August 25, 2007, 11:03 PM CST [General]

State Fair time…I went with my husband and his mother. I was impressed by how long my husband was able to last-he’s not from here and typically has a two hour max at the fair limit. But, yesterday, he stayed out for over 7 hours! Pretty amazing.

It was fun to see the Fair from a different set of eyes. My mother in law, being from the East Coast, hasn’t had the opportunity to delight in the myriad of foods available deep fried and on a stick. In spite of initial reluctance, she thoroughly enjoyed the deep fried pickles and even wanted to get seconds on the cheese curds. (keep in mind that she is at most a size 4..) Towards the end of the fair, she wanted a glass of wine, and we went to the old Beer garden (which should have been a clue to me…) but no wine. The Vulcans were out painting mustaches on people, and the King Vulcan-or whatever you call him-was standing there dressed in black. Mom-in-law, said, “Why don’t we just go ask that policeman if he knows where we can get some wine..” Which is funny as he was wearing a fairly ridiculous costume, complete with fake mustache/beard etc… Also, it’s funny that her first thought was to ask a policeman where she could get some alcohol. (there’s a wine bar at Schumakers? For those who are wondering..) I REALLY wanted to say-yes, why don’t you go ask him, and enjoy the merriment but was kind and told her who he really was.

Also made it out to the FM107 booth, but just at the end of the Lori and Julia show. Would have liked to get their sooner, but it was perfect timing, as it was the end of the week and the song was “I will survive!” I volunteered to sing, so got to meet Lori! I didn’t go on stage due to overload of carb/fat coma, but did sing loudly from the audience, along with my hubby and his mom. My husband in convinced that Julia looks like one of the characters from the Dark Crystal movie.

Also, we saw Paul Douglas and Amelia Santaniello buying food at the Fried Green Tomato booth.  Overall it was a good day.

    Kissing relatives

Friday, August 24, 2007, 12:47 AM CST [General]

It’s going on day six of the mother in law visit and overall I would have to say it is going quite well.

The dirty carpet that I was so desperately trying to clean late Saturday night is no longer a concern-but it was comforting to read the comments that night as I was close to losing my mind. Exciting MIL benefits include: free groceries at Byerly’s, one new potted plant, and three different home cooked meals. Since the weather has been so gloomy, we haven’t had much beach time (which was her request for preferred activity) although we did catch a few glimpses of Lake Minnetonka when I attempted to find a restaurant on the lake without my handy Mapquest directions. (left conveniently on the kitchen table.) We ended up having a pretzel at Ridgedale Mall which didn’t exactly have the ambience I was hoping for.

So I happily admit to liking my mother in law. Except for one thing..She is a MOUTH KISSER-when you leave for work, when it’s time for bed etc…

It’s bad enough that the rest of my husband’s family does the kiss on the cheek thing. I still haven’t figured out the rhythm of this, so I tend to just make kissing noises without making lip to cheek contact.

    AARGH!!!CARPET

Saturday, August 18, 2007, 10:05 PM CST [General]

Word to the wise..If it is 9:00 before company is coming, and you decide to clean the carpets with an untried cleaner.  Pick a small spot first.  DO NOT SPRAY AND SPRINKLE your entire staircase because, if it does no good, then you still have to lug the vacuum up the entire flight of stairs to vacuum up the sprinkles!!!

On the bonus side, halfwary through the vacuum began to smoke and smell bad, so maybe this means that I never have to vacuum again.
