I was about 4 when this happened, but I remember it like it happened yesterday, probably because at such a young age it totally freaked me out!!!
When my brother and I were little my grandpa had these 'Groucho Marx' glasses with the black fuzzy eyebrows, big rubber nose and black fuzzy mustache that he would put on for us sometimes and act silly. We knew from him showing us that kept them in his dresser drawer, but though I knew they were in there and would pull the drawer open to look at them sometimes, I would never touch them because they kinda freaked me out.
Now, my brother is a year older than me, so when this incident happened to me he was at school and I was at my grandma's by myself for the day. My grandpa was working, so it was just my grandma and me. My grandma was sitting in the back porch knitting and I was playing with some dolls in the spare bedroom down the hall from my grandparents' bedroom. The bedroom door was open and I was sitting in the middle of the room facing the door. I don't know what caused me to look up when I did, but there before my eyes, literally HOVERING IN THE AIR in the middle of the doorway were my grandpa's 'Groucho Marx' glasses!!! I froze. I couldn't move, and my heart was pounding in my ears. Then the glasses turned as if they were on someone's face and started down the hallway back toward my grandparents' room. After a few moments I got up and looked into the hallway, and called for my grandma. She answered me, and her voice was coming from the back porch. So I mustered up the courage to go into my grandparents' room and look in the drawer. The glasses were in the exact same spot they always were. From there I went back into the spare bedroom, grabbed my dollies, and headed out to play in the porch with my grandma for the rest of the afternoon, and never again went and played in that spare bedroom by myself. And I never told anyone what I saw that day.
Now fast forward 26 years. I have a little brother who is 5 years younger than me, and one night he, his girlfriend and I went out for a beer together. We were sitting around b.s.ing and out of the blue he said he'd had a wierd experience happen to him when he was about 4 years old that he'd never shared with anyone, but wanted to tell me about now because he knew for sure I wouldn't think he's crazy. I can't even BEGIN to tell you how I felt when I heard him relay his account of the EXACT SAME EXPERIENCE, five years later!!!!
We have since asked our other brothers and sisters if they ever had anything wierd happen in our grandparents' house that involved those glasses, and none of the rest of them ever did.
To this day I still don't know why it happened, 'who' it was, what it meant, and why my little brother and I were chosen to share that experience with one another, but happen it did, and neither of us will EVER forget it for the rest of our lives!

I love a good ghost story. So seasonal.
