Type of friends reveals personality traits

Monday, August 18, 2008, 10:04 AM CST [General]

    ·         Just one close friend -- You need someone to confide in and trust. You don't trust people very easily, but once you do you're very loyal. You take friendship very seriously and never take your friends for granted.

    ·         Friends of your own sex only -- You enjoy tradition and believe boys should be boys and girls should be girls. You're more comfortable when people are in more traditional roles. You enjoy friends who have something in common with you.

    ·         Friends of the opposite sex only -- You enjoy being the center of attention, but don't like competing for it. Intimacy is very important to you, and you're capable of deep relationships.

    ·         Friends you just party with -- You love to socialize, but don't like people getting too close. You're very independent and want to stay that way - and you especially don't like to become dependent on one person.

    ·         Friends from the workplace -- You love achieving, working hard, making money and always moving ahead. All things in your life - including friendships - are geared toward making your career as successful as possible.

    ·         Different friends for different occasions -- If, for example, you go dancing with one group of friends and play touch football with another, you're well-organized, but don't like to become too involved with people. You're a busy, active person.

Who you relate to in OZ reveals personality traits

Friday, August 15, 2008, 09:56 AM CST [General]

A recent study says who you most identify with from "The Wizard Of Oz" holds the key to your secret self. "Just like in real life, these characters must overcome obstacles by learning to trust in their individual strengths,"  Just choose your favorite character and see what it says about you.

    • The Scarecrow -- Just like your favorite character, you're unflappable. It takes something truly monumental to ruffle your feathers, and people love that about you. Your placid acceptance of unplanned twists and turns has a calming effect on those around you from your boss to your kids. They know you can be depended on to plan ahead while also dealing with surprises without losing your cool.
    • The Cowardly Lion -- You actually have plenty of strength and courage, but like the Lion, you know when to fight and when to ignore everyday exasperations. Your protective side is always lurking just beneath the surface, and it quickly comes to the fore if you think your loved ones are endangered. You'll spring to their defense with a mighty roar that'll blow the opposition away.
    • The Tin Man -- You're generous and compassionate spirit encompasses all of the people lucky enough to come into your orbit. In fact, much like your Oz alter-ego, you don't have to search for a heart since you already have one the size of Kansas. You're sentimental, sweet and non-judgmental, attributes that ll your friends and family prize. They know that they can turn to you when they need a shoulder to cry on or some sound advice that comes from the heart.
    • Dorothy -- Underneath your shy demeanor lurks a powerhouse of determination. You also have plenty of self-esteem, and you finish whatever you state. No project is too tough. Your organizational skills give you the ability to juggle several tasks at once.Your typical day probably includes childcare, housework, a fulltime job and a hubby. And you manage it all with a smile.
    • The Wizard -- You're an inspiration to your family and friends. Just like the Wizard, you give them what they need when they need it. You're a tower of strength when there's a crisis, and your amazing confidence in the face of obstacles boosts the morale of your loved ones and co-workers. Best of all, your love of life is so engaging that you infect others with your positive attitude.

I am such a Dorothy. If only I could ding like her:)

Foodie News - Mannys grand opening

Thursday, August 14, 2008, 03:45 PM CST [General]

I had the pleasure of going to the Mann's grand opening last night. Their new space is in the Foshay tower and that building is really beautiful. Manny's will be great in this space. What is interesting is they have a HUGE new bar that is separated from the restaurant. It had the coolest retro furnishings, it's big and it's lovely and will do very well. I had a glass of champagne (can you ever go wrong with that?) and a new drink called an Orange Whip that was like an orange martini, which was good, but I could only drink one.

For dinner we had a really yummy scallop appetizer! It was a huge caramelized scallop on a crouton that had a really nice lemony roulade and chives on top. That combo was amazing. Then we had the great Manny's meat - a 10oz medium filet with char that tasted delicious tender and was cooked perfectly. Add potatoes, creamed spinach and a bit of the potato crusted halibut that my friend had and it was a great food night.

I expect that they will do great business.

    CHEESE REVEALS YOUR PERSONALITY

Thursday, August 14, 2008, 03:35 PM CST [General]

    CHEESE REVEALS YOUR PERSONALITY

Ah, cheese.. The type of cheese you eat reveals your personality:

    • Cheddar -- You're into sports. You have a lot of energy. You are clever and "sharp" and can be very stubborn.
    • Swiss -- You're sophisticated, aloof and enjoy life's finer things. Friends have a hard time dealing with you because of your "richy rich" temperament, but you are superstitious, too.
    • Blue Cheese -- you're cool, mellow, wise; knowledgeable. The other mice always seek you out.
    • Mozzerella -- You're shy, reserved, kind and thoughtful and a pushover for your stronger more aggressive rodents.
    • American -- You're cautious, practical, down-to-earth, but unfortunately have little or no style. You're always the wing-woman and never the pilot.

I am so addicted lately to a french goat cheese from Surdyks that is wrapped in taragon and pink peppercorns - it is so yummy.

For this excercise I am going to say... a good Irish or English Cheddar. Yum CHEDDAR.
