Such is my weekly shopping routine at my local supermarket that i could virtually go round blindfolded and even know when to step up a gear on the shopping trolley, which bends are "dangerous" and which routes are fastest - yeah its a bit like the grand prix circuit!
Anyway, my eye caught sight of a promotional stand near the bread and cakes stall , they were doing my fave jam tarts on special offer . I have to specify that i hate the apricot flavoured ones but occasionally spoil myself with the strawberry / raspberry variety.
What occured next i will blame on the influence of having a mom who typically was an expert on getting the right groceries, at the right prices and in the right conditions, all that plus with having plenty of change left over. In my wisdom i grabbed two packs and shoved them onto my trolley while whizzing past on my way to the fruit and veg stand.
Yesterday i decided to spoil myself with a good old british cuppa and my fave goodies. The smug smile on my face was soon wiped out when i realised i'd only gotten the frickin' apricot ones!
I mulled over what to do with these unwanted "treats" , I couldnt give them to my friends cos they always leave these on the plate and go for the strawberry ones, I wasnt gonna give them to my nephews cos i havent yet forgiven the little gits for saying i was too old to be in their soccer team. I cant leave them aside for when Sophia flies over cos the sell by date finishes before then and she'll think im a cheeky brat for giving her stale cakies (well she thinks im a cheeky brat anyway but i make no excuses for that ;)
Ah, yes, i'll leave them on the garden wall for the birds, i'll let them know that it may be "Breakfast at Tiffanys" but its "Tea at Streetlife's!"
And that, my good friends across the pond, is why we brits love our tradition of afternoon tea ! :)

I "heart" your blogs...and dislike apricots as well...
