The younger two nephews from big sis side of the family have like many of todays kids, shot up from being cute little "butter wouldnt melt in their mouths" types to strapping teenagers . Danny (aged 15) is taller than me now and wears a "large" in mens clothing, Uwais (aged 14) isnt far behind, although his voice is still boyish compared to the former who sounds older than his dad! Naturally they are soccer mad, Uwais following the same team as my beloved Liverpool FC whereas Danny has ultimately decided to be awkward by supporting our great rivals Manchester United!
I noticed them playing some soccer game on their latest playstation gadgets, some sort of "real life " type of match which allows you to pick your own choice of soccer superstars or even to name them how you want. Danny, who is as much stroppy as strappy wanted to boast how good his team were (naturally they were all Man. Utd stars) but I noticed Uwais's team was a list of his friends names, and one of my brother.
"Hey, how come youve not got my name in your team" i asked him (surely he'd be thinking of his fellow Liverpool fans who is also the uncle who lets him use his pc and laptop)
"Nah, didnt include u uncle, you're too old!"
Huh?? Well that made my day - not! Cheeky little git! The pair of them sat there with cheshire cat grins !
"And how old is too old may i ask" (well i thought if im gonna get hung for a lamb i may as well get hung for a sheep - brit term)
"erm, 33?" muttered the one, "34 or 35" said the other, obviously too busy interested in their "cup final" .
Well, being mistaken for being younger than my 43 years was i guess SOME consolation but "too old" ?? Hmmm, i'll wait until their soccer game is over, THEN i'll give them both a kick up the jacksy (yep, another brit term - no needto guess for what though) :)
Well this ones deffo quicker than the other one was although there are a few differances and some of them Im still getting the hang of!
This one for some reason wont let me listen to the radio stn without sticking me in the chat room if im logged on that is, Also as noticed by Beckyanna its keeping my blogs on top due to the little matter of the UK time differance. Sorry, cant help that folks :) , I could try setting my clock back by 6 hours maybe, its not my choice to be on top all the time (excuse the pun!). I think Ive finally got a good understanding now of who is who in the Bunny family thanks to clarification from everyones fave adopted mum Mrs B (although for some reason i thought Big D was one of her boys - whoops sorry LeeLoo :)
Regarding the LOLies awards - Reminds me , popped into the newsagents to get a paper , the little fellow behind the counter looked at me strangely and asked "You look familiar, do I know you?" I calmy replied "Yeah, im the guy who won the best long distance LOLie award" . He turned to his mate with a puzzled look, then back at me and pointed to some lollipops on the counter "Oh right," he said "These are on promo" . Talk about trying to keep a straight face :)
A news story caught my eye today - two youths, aged just 15 and 16 were found guilty of murdering a young woman simply cos she and her boyfriend were dressed as Goths.
It was described by the police officer leading the murder case as "one of the most violent murders i have ever seen" . These two cretins along with three of their friends apparently took a dislike to the young couple simply cos they were goths and dressed differently. The attitude of the parents of these youths has been described as "appalling" in a way that they showed absolutely no remorse.
Now my knowledge and experience of the young gothic culture is limited to a couple of friends and ex work colleagues, and I have always found them to be intelligent, fairly reserved types who keep themselves to themselves and are into the music and arts scene, but i was amazed to hear from one of them that this sort of feeling towards goths is a growing concern in todays society. So much so that apparently there is a national gothic association which is campaigning for goths to be covered by the same legislation as other groups under the "hate crime" offences.
Jeez, i thought it was bad enough to hate someone cos of their colour, faith, sexual orentation, etc but for being goths too? Whatever next?
