Has this happened to anyone? The other day during a storm our wireless got disconnected. I was trying to get my Simon Delivers done online - and it was not a convenient time for me to lose my wireless connection. SO, I called our provider, and probably not so nicely told them what an inconvenience this was (hey, I was tired, hungry, and dealing with a nine month old who doesn't like it when I'm on the computer). They told me they would send a technician first thing the next morning. Well, some time in during the night the wireless started working again, but I didn't call our provider to tell them that we'd no longer need a technician. Long story short - they sent one - and I was too embarrassed to answer the door - so I HID!! In my own house. From the technician at the door. I am even more embarrassed at that! I am the reason for those windows they give ("we'll be there some time between today and next year.") and the technicians come to your house late. BECAUSE OF PEOPLE LIKE ME! So, as I do when I've done something really really dumb, I called fellow Get Real Girl, Liv to find out if this was normal or if I was really crazy (She's kind of my reality check). Turns out, she had heard this story before from someone else. They had done the SAME thing. Here's my question Get Real Girls (and guys), have you ever done it? Or would you have done the same thing had you been in my situation? Feel free to also tell me how ridiculous I am. I deserve it! |

Oh, yes, I have done this. I have worked a lot of off shifts over the years, and I will NEVER forget being sound asleep, on the couch in the living room at one in the afternoon. Problem was, I was wearing a sleep shirt without anything else...FEDEX guy at the door, I know he saw me jump up off the couch and run to hide in the corner. My husband was furious with me because it was a package being delivered for his job! DUH--you think he would have warned me! We had to drive to Minnetonka to pick up the package later that night. So no, you're not crazy!

I haven't hid from someone I asked to come, I think that is rude. You made the mistake of not calling back and it's not fair to them that you didn't come to the door and say I screwed up. I'd want that courtesy given to me, so I would do no less for them. That said, however, I have not answered the door when someone has come to my door when I haven't called for them. I don't think it is necessary to answer the door if you are not expecting someone. |

Colleen, not only have I done this myself, but I have done it often. You see I am an extroverted introvert and half the time I do the right thing and call them to reschedule or cancel as the case may need. However, I have also just waited inside like a fugative...hoping my kids don't choose that moment to say something really loudly. It's not right, but there it is. You are not alone, my sister. You are not alone! :o)
