    WHAT WAS THAT!

    Friday, October 19, 2007, 10:09 PM [General]

Greeting! I am totally new to this blog thing! I find it very interesting and have many friends and family that blog. I have often wondered what does one write about?  But I now have a topic!  I live in a suburban town north of the city. I live on the border of one town and another, which makes it a cross between "small town and not so small town" However, most EVERY weekend sometime around 10:00 pm (sometimes a little before, sometimes a little after) a large BOOM or TWO go off. Now this is not a car back firing. It sounds very MUCH like a gunshot (although I have never really heard a real gun without blanks) It is so loud that makes me jump, shaking the house, and it echoes all around. I question myself: WHAT is it? I mean if it was a gun shot, wouldn't it get checked out by police, wouldn't someone report it? How does one find out what it is and how can I make sure that my neighborhood is safe? I am shocked that after living here for more than a year now, it still happens? How is this possible, I wonder? AND why in the world, since it makes me JUMP every time it happens, I wonder, do I NEVER remember to ask neighbors if they heard the noise and if they know what it is? I guess, it continues because like me, neighbors bury their head and don't report it. So I guess I can "worry" all I want, but until I decide to do something about it, why should I expect someone else too, right? But then I think, well what would I say when calling the police? How does someone explain what they heard, when they do not know what it was you heard without sounding like a suburban "Freaked OUT" "Over protective" Mom...I guess you don't and that is why I have yet to take action myself.
